Teaching Your Brain to Knit 
I listened to the difficulty you had knitting with linen. Thought I’d pass along a technique we use as weavers. As we work with either the warp or weft we keep the linen spritzed with water. Then wet finish it as you did in the end.
So you could spritz the linen as you are knitting it to keep it more pliable. Just a thought.
